All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

All applicants must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.

All applicants must submit fingerprints to the Commission pursuant to KSA 58-3039(b)

Pursuant to K.S.A. 58-3043, the Commission may restrict or deny an applicant's license. 

Applications pursuant to K.S.A. 48-3406. Applicants who may qualify include military service members, military spouses, applicants who reside in Kansas, or applicants who intend to reside in Kansas. An applicant who is a military service member or military spouse must have held a valid license in another state during any period in the last two years. Non-military individuals who have established or intend to establish residency in this state must hold a current valid license in another jurisdiction and the license must have been in active status for at least two years immediately preceding application. Applicants must not have past or pending disqualifying criminal records or disciplinary actions. Effective July 1, 2025, pursuant to 2025 HB 2280, all fees related to original licensure and license renewal are waived for individuals who are the spouse of a military service member or spouse of a former member with an honorable discharge who resides or plans to reside in Kansas. This includes application, background check, original licensure, renewal and renewal late fees. The applicant or licensee is responsible for indicating eligibility for the exemption each time an application form is completed and could be subject to discipline if eligibility is misrepresented pursuant to K.S.A. 58-3062(f)(1).
